HRA Benefits

Health Reimbursement Arrangements were approved by the IRS in 2002. The HRA allows the employer to fund an account that is used by the employee to fund qualified medical expenses. The reimbursements are not taxed to the employee, but are deductible by the employer.

With the HRA an employer can enhance their benefit package while helping to control costs. The HRA is combined with a high deductible insurance plan. This helps the employer reduce their insurance costs. The effect of the high deductible to the employee is offset by the HRA account.
